Question:
I am a beginner at running and I
want to keep running outside this
winter but I need some clothing
ideas for an environment that is
pretty far north and it gets cold
around here. Any website suggestions
or even better any stores or chains
to check out? I am not the type
who gets cold easily and Ii do sweat
a lot! I would appreciate any suggestions.
Answer:
I suggest the National Sporting
Goods catalog. Adidas has some great
running apparel. The prices are
reasonable and on the inside cover
is a layering component guide. Their
toll free number is 1-800-541-1773.
You can pick
whatever fabrics feel most comfortable
to you, then DRESS IN LAYERS. That's
the key.
Then if inner layers get wet with
sweat, there are still some outer
layers to protect you from the cold
and wind. Even the opposite problem
can occur, where it gets warmer
than you planned for. You can then
remove a layer and carry it, or
even simply unzipping your topmost
outer layer (jacket sweatshirt,
whatever) can help.
BTW, don't forget fluids. Winter
air is dry. So drink up!
