Asics Running Shorts
Question:
On a 10-mile run today I had some pretty bad inner thigh chafing from skin-on-skin rubbing. I had this during my marathon last year and got relief by applying a big gob of vaseline at a relief station along the way. This is kind of a messy solution for everyday training runs. Is there some other way to prevent this? Maybe some sort of spandex briefs that would cover that area.

Answer:
Try Asics running shorts. I found they are longer than other running shorts and that prevents any chafing. I don't run in any other shorts. There's also something called Body Glide for folks whose thighs chafe. You should be able to get it at your local running store. Lycra cycling-shorts (without the padding of real cycling shorts) solve this problem for me. I think they make me run faster too, since they look pretty embarrassing. The faster I run, the less people will see me. You can get these shorts at any running shop.
