Running Shoes For Someone W/ Bad Back!
Question:
I am looking for a pair of running shoes for a guy in his mid-forties who runs maybe 20 miles in a week. I’ve been wearing Nike Airs for about 10 years since a guy at a shoe store recommended them to correct a tendency to wear the outside of the shoe much faster than the inside. I’ve been pretty satisfied with the Nikes but I started to develop some back pain. Is there was anything better out there? I recently visited a couple of athletic shoe stores but was unable to get any intelligent advice from the stores’ clerks. Will someone please offer some advice?

Answer:
I also pronate and have found the Asics 2050s to be good for this. However, the back pain is probably something else. I now do back exercises most days and have found this does help. It would be very long and tedious to try to describe these exercises but I don’t know a web site that shows them. Try surfing for ‘back exercises’. If you like Nikes you might want to consider the Nike Air Structures. They’re a much more stable and cushioned shoe than the regular Nike Air.
