Sore Legs While Training for Mini Marathon
Question:
I have been jogging for about five months now and I try to run every other day. I've noticed in the last week or two that my legs will get very sore (lactic acid buildup?) during my run on the treadmill and I'll actually have to slow to a walk. My lungs and heart are fine, and I am not even out of breath before I'll have to slow down from the soreness.

Is there anything i can do to prevent/get rid of these sore muscles? I'm running my first mini marathon on Sunday (5K walk/run) and I don't want to have to walk the majority of it.

Answer:
When was the last time you bought a new pair of shoes? Sore legs is often a sign shoes have worn out their cushioning. I had some achy knees two weeks ago, replaced my shoes a little earlier than usual, and feel wonderful this week. Also Try some spincyling a couple times a week, say, 60 min. Cycling limbers up the muscles nicely, keeps good range of motion.
