Question:
Has anyone of you had any experience
of Mizuno running shoes? I am looking
for a new pair to replace my wornout
Sauconys and I have tried on the
Mizunos for a couple of times. They
feel great at the store but I have
been hesitating since I have never
heard of these before. Any comments?
Answer:
Great racing flats, not such good
training shoes. If you train in
racers then you'll like their shoes.
I've been an ASICS man for the past
6 years. One year ago I bought my
first ever pair of racing flats
-- MIZUNO Sonic Racer -- and I love
them.
I have always worn lightweight trainers
for my daily running and I have
found ASICS to be the best for me.
I have not been thrilled with the
recent changes ASICS has made to
their DS Trainer. In January I switched
to the MIZUNO Mondo Lite (their
lightweight trainer). I absolutely
love them. It has been several years
(since the ASICS Gel Lyte Ultra)
that I have had a shoe this comfortable.
I should also mention that I alternate
these MIZUNOs with a pair of Brooks
Cheetahs which is a nice, well-cushioned
lightweight trainer. I just replaced
a pair of Mizuno Mondo Control (their
motion control shoe). They were
extremely comfortable--nicely cushoned
for an MC shoe and the toe box is
mostly fabric and very soft so it
doesn't squeeze the toes.
But a couple
weeks ago I glanced down after a
long run and saw that the midsole
on one shoe had collapsed (over
a period of time, I'm sure), so
that my right ankle was tilting
inward maybe 10 degrees. Last run
for those shoes! They lasted about
5 months, maybe 250 miles. A pair
of Asics Gel MC Plus, purchased
at the same time, is still going
strong.
