NIKE And Snowboarding |
Question:
I'm actually
waiting to see what Nike is gonna
offer to the world of snowboarding.
With Nike's new apparel lineup for
this season rolling closer and closer,
I for one am anticipating to see their
stuff. Although Nike is the hegemonic
power in sporting apparel and this
would definitely be selling out to
commercialism over smaller true to
the game snowboarding companies, can
anyone truely argue they do not own
a single piece of Nike garb. I for
one like Nike. I wear their shoes,
I sport their jackets, and I admire
their sponsored atheletes (Jordan,
Woods, Pippen, etc). I like
their commercials, I like their magazine
ads. And I will most likely (if I
in the right price range) will sport
their stuff on the slopes.
Am I alone in the great sport of snowboarding
alone in my opinion?
Answer:
I think Nike should stick with what
they know. Not gonna happen though,
they have a world to conquer. It was
bad enough when they got into hockey--
buying off players to get the swoosh
on the helmets ah well.
Of course I never thought I'd buy
anything but Burton after my Performer,
but there is some good competition
out there. Hope my Ride stick comes
up a winner (haven't been out yet
with it).
