Question:
I have alway found nylon shorts
to be uncomfortable and itchy. Well,
I found something new.
In the past fews years I have seen
women around town wearing patterned
mens boxer shorts (such a plaid
or tartan) as causual shorts. So
from that idea:
I bought
a pair of silk boxer-briefs (for
support) and a larger pair of black
silk boxers. I have sewn up the
fly part of the boxers (for modestly
even though I am wearing them over
boxer-briefs). This combination
is lighter, cooler, more comfortable
and cheaper than name brand running
shorts.
Answer:
I think the best running shorts
were New Zealand Splits by InSport.
They don't make 'em anymore and
the ones I still have haven't got
many miles left in them.
Try rock climbing
shorts. They are somewhat similar
to cycling shorts but less tight,
thinner, and no chamois pad. Cool,
comfortable, and no chaffing. The
ones I purchase are theMetolius
brand with no pockets. You can get
them at Mountain Equipment Co-op
in Canada. .
I often have
chaffing problems on my inner thighs,
so I discovered two pieces of clothing
that work well in that situation..
(1) Bicycle shorts are probably
bar-none the best prevention against
chaffing. They are also damned comfortable..
But the drawback is they are very
hot.
They have
that big chamois pad in your butt
and crotch area which will overheat
you on long runs.. but you can buy
ceartain bike shorts which have
very thin linings so as to limit
that problem. Another item I find
comfortable and prevents chaffing
is to simply take sweatpants and
cut them half leg. If you're not
self-conscious, running in speedos
is a real experience
