Nike Trail Running Shoes - Opinions? |
Question:
I've been running alot on trails lately,
mostly in the Nike Pegasus, and I'm
finding that I need something tougher
for the terrain.
I've seen the Nike Air Humara, and
it looks quite good, with heel and
forefoot air, etc. I've also recently
heard about the Air Terra Zori, which
is lighter and also has air, though
only in the heel. I'm used to running
in road shoes and have generally disliked
the harder feel of most trail shoes.
Can someone give me their opinions
of either of these new Nikes?
Answer:
I have never felt the need for trail
running shoes. In 20 years of running
I have run on everything from Himalayan
Mountain trails to local park trails
and never had a problem with regular
runnning shoes, Nike Air Pegasus included.
I note that perhaps the best trail
runner in the world, Ann Transon,
also uses regular running shoes for
all of her trail running and racing.
I think that while the trail running
shoes may offer a bit more support
and stability it is another gimmick
to get you to buy more shoes. And
what's with this trail running fad?
Trail running was the original type
of running.
