Question:
I am interested in finding a software
workout planner program that will
help me record and analyze my training.
What do you recommend and where
can I find it?
Answer:
If you are looking for a simple,
easy to use Windows program you
can try RunTrak. Check out their
website for more info and download
the shareware version. Also look
for Athlete's Diary for Windows.
UltraCoach
is the world's leading software
for running, swimming and biking.
Using artficial intelligence technology
the program will analyze YOUR workout
data and give you your next run
workout oriented to your goal and
fitness level and include and alter
according to overtraining or undertraining
factors, etc. Call 800-400-1390
for free copy. Windows based--lots
of other features-log, diary, equipment
tracking, etc.
PC Coach is
a software logbook for Mac or Windows
computers that lets you plan your
training (days, weeks, even years
in advance), log all your data,
and graph the results. It contains
some unique features such as the
ability to create your own data
templates so you can log any data
item you choose, the new version
(1.5) even lets you create workouts
based on a personal record bank,
such as your 5K PR. Once your data
is logged, you can graph any data
item in your workouts, and stack
up to 10 graphs to visualize how
different factors are affecting
your training.
If you also
want coaching advice, PC Coach offers
load-in modules that create weeks
of training to prepare you for your
next race. For runners, there is
UTA PIPPIG's Marathon Plan, and
Arturo Barrio's 10K Plan. Each plan
was created by the author and their
coach, and comes with a training
booklet so you know what soft of
a plan you are following - (some
software programs give you a workout
but never tell you who created the
plan, or what the theory is).
